Ford Unveils Work Truck Version of the Electric F-150
Ford unveiled its F-150 Lightning Pro, a version of the recently announced F-150, aimed specifically at commercial customers.
The new version of the F-150 comes in a regular and an extended-range version, both of which come with business-focused features such as more space, easy fleet integration, and more practical easy-to-clean vinyl seating.
The Pro Version is very similar to the consumer model of the F-150, but its pricing options are altered to be more appealing to commercial operators: The regular F-150 Lightning Pro model starts at $39,974 with an estimated 230 miles (370 km) of range. An extended-range version, which is expected to have a roughly 300-mile (482 km) range, will start at $49,974.

Perhaps the most attractive of the two new Lightning Pro versions is the one with the extended range, as it offers the same 300-mile (482km) range as the $90,474 Platinum consumer F-150 for a lower price than the 230-mile range XLT consumer model.
The extended range Lightning Pro produces 563-horsepower, 775-pound feet of torque, and comes with the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro and onboard dual chargers.
The regular Lightning Pro, meanwhile, delivers 426 horsepower and 755-pound feet of torque, with an estimated 230 miles (370 km) of range.
Incentivizing businesses to go electric with the F-150 Lightning Pro
Unlike the retail version of the F-150, the commercial version, the Lightning Pro, comes with Ford's commercial telematics software, which allows for easy fleet integration, and tracking of vehicle location, charging status, and health indicators for their vehicles.
In its press statement, Ford claimed the Lightning Pro could reduce maintenance costs by up to 40 percent over the course of eight years when compared with a 2.7L EcoBoost F-150.

The US automaker said it is targeting a 2,000-lb (907 kg) maximum payload capacity and a 5,000-lb (2270 kg) towing capacity with the regular F-150 Lightning Pro. An optional trailer package allows for an extra 7,700-lb (3500 km) of towing capacity.
The F-150 Lightning Pro should be popular as it comes at a time in which businesses aim to get ahead of increasing regulations on internal combustion engine vehicles. Same as the consumer version of the F-150, Ford also includes a 4G LTE modem, which should be useful for businesses as it enables tracking of key metrics, such as kilowatt-hour consumption, charge speed, and distance to empty.
