Hyundai Will Showcase Its New EV Concept '45' at the Frankfurt Motor Show
Hyundai has teased its new electric vehicle concept that will be unveiled at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The company has revealed little so far, only unveiling a tantalizing image and revealing a few choice details about where the company's vision for EVs is headed.
New design, retro influence
We know almost nothing about Hyundai's new concept, dubbed '45,' other than what we see in the image above of the car's rear. The rear features LEDs with a classic layout, giving it a retro-futuristic look.
As Autoexpress reports, the new concept car marks 45 years since the introduction of the original Hyundai Pony at the Turin Motor Show in 1974. The Pony was the first car developed fully in-house by the company.
In a press release downloadable on the company's website, it says the new model is "inspired by looking back at the brand’s first model in the 1970s."
The company says:
"The new concept accentuates the forward-driven design direction while exploring the evolution of Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language."
"‘Sensuous’ stands for enhanced emotional values that customers can experience through design, and ‘Sportiness’ is determined to implement those values through innovative mobility solutions," the statement declared.
The car will be unveiled on September 10 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
While Hyundai is remaining tight-lipped about the '45' EV design until the Frankfurt Motor Show, the company has recently revealed several impressive designs.
At CES 2019 in Las Vegas, the automaker revealed details of a new walking vehicle. The concept, dubbed 'Elevate' has legs that allow the vehicle to travel over intense rugged terrain, climb stairs, and even cross rivers.
The company also recently announced that they would be releasing a variation on the Sonata with solar panels on its roof. The company claims that 60 percent of the car's battery will be chargeable via sunlight.
