Lucid Motors Reveals Lucid Space Concept with the Largest EV Frunk Yet
Lucid Motors, which will make a big impact on the market soon with its competitive range of 517 miles, has announced its first model's platform details today. A new EV brand that presents luxury with a “Space-Concept” is ambitious of providing more interior space and comfort than other EV offerings.
Comfort first, battery later
Lucid Motors renounced some aspects to give more space to both the interior and the storage. They worked on miniaturizing the EV drivetrain and battery pack to present a wider cabin space in all-electric sedan Lucid Air. They also introduced the largest EV frunk ever, namely, the contraction of "front trunk."
The trunk capacity is of over 280 liters, which is 89% larger than the current EV pioneer in Lucid Air’s vehicle classification and 40% larger than the current EV leader in the SUV class.
The battery pack is described as a powerful, compact, and energy dense 113kWh with an extended-range.
“It’s relatively easy to achieve more range by adding progressively more batteries, but gaining ‘dumb range’ that way increases weight and cost, and reduces interior space,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Motors, in the press statement. “Lucid Air has achieved its remarkable range whilst also reducing battery size through its in-house technology, resulting in a breakthrough in overall vehicle-level efficiency.”

A see-through ride
Lucid Space Concept not only provides luxurious space and comfort for the EV fanciers but it has a lot more to offer. Thanks to its skateboard platform, full Canopy Glass Roof on the top, and race-proven battery technology beneath, the users will experience a spacious ride.
When it comes to luggage space, it is even much more than expected. The unprecedented model offers a 739-liter capacity, reportedly being the best in class for both electric and internal combustion engine vehicles.
Lucid Motors first made its splash by announcing the mile-range which corresponds to 1,000 horsepower available from its dual-motor architecture, back at the beginning of August 2020.
If you're curious, the deliveries of Lucid Air will begin in early 2021 coming out fresh from the factory in Casa Grande, Arizona.
