Impressive towing capabilities
A Nissan Patrol SUV weighs around 3,300 pounds (1,500 kilograms) meaning the little Tesla Model 3 must have some pretty amazing towing capabilities. Tesla states that its Model 3 has a towing capacity of up to 2,000 pounds (910 kilograms) but clearly it can handle a lot more than that.
Tesla Model 3’s torque vectoring capabilities allow for engine torque to be transferred to each of the car's wheels according to which wheels the energy needs to go to. This enables the kind of controlled use of energy that allows the Model 3 to pull the SUV out of the sand and carry it several yards away.
Two years ago, we reported on a Tesla Model X that pulled a Semi up a hill in the snow. The video proved that Teslas could indeed handle heavy loads.
Power has been an important concern for electric vehicles in the last two decades, second only to the vehicles' maximum driving range. The first electric-combustion hybrids on the market were often accused of not being able to get up to speed on the highway.
This is clearly not the case anymore as can be witnessed by today's video. The Tesla Model 3 obviously has plenty of power as it easily dislodges the Nissan Patrol SUV and carries it several yards into the sand. Hopefully, this video will lay all doubters to rest!
