Tesla Model S Is Now The First EV to Reach 402 Miles in Range

Tesla has had a nice upgrade of its flagship electric sedan, its Model S, which can now go up to a 402-mile range all thanks to a few improvements.
In fact, Tesla founder and CEO, Elon Musk, claimed earlier this year that the vehicle could already achieve a 400-mile range and said that the EPA had made a mistake when testing the new Model S Long Range Plus.

New version of Model S
On Monday, Tesla announced the official EPA-rated range of its new Model S Long Range Plus electric vehicle. With its confirmed 402-mile range, it now has a 20% increase on its range compared with the Model S 100D model with the same battery design.
This is a show of Tesla's dedication to "efficiency and energy frugality," as per the press release.

The Tesla team stated that "several changes, both iterative and transformational, in core hardware and system architecture development by the Tesla engineering, design and production teams," have happened, pushing the car towards a longer, and more efficient, range.
So as of February this year, any Model S Long Range Plus vehicle should achieve that range. With that in mind, anyone wishing to reach that range does have to pay attention to their speedometer, as it shouldn't go above 112 kph (70 mph) as well as use the aero wheels with low resistance tires.
The Tesla team's changes to the Model S include: significant mass reduction, new "Tempest" aero wheels, and tires, increased drive unite efficiency, maximizing regenerative braking, and continued investment in supercharging.
