Tesla Semi Prototype Makes Cross Country Run Just on Supercharger Network

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is known for the way he defends all things Tesla-related from work hours to safety. He is even more expressive when it comes to his beloved firm's achievements.
Cross-country run completed!
So you can imagine the entrepreneur's excitement when it was revealed that a Tesla Semi prototype succeeded in an impressive cross-country run trip to trucking giant and Tesla client J.B. Hunt. The transportation firm announced last November that it was joining the electric carmaker's customer list.

The supply chain solutions provider had revealed it had placed a reservation for several Tesla Semi tractors to support its West Coast operations. “Reserving Tesla trucks marks an important step in our efforts to implement industry-changing technology,” had said J.B. Hunt CEO John Roberts in the firm's statement.
“We believe electric trucks will be most beneficial on local and dray routes, and we look forward to utilizing this new, sustainable technology," he had added. Now Tesla has finally delivered the first of those electric trucks to J.B. Hunt’s headquarters in Arkansas.
The move seems to be well received by J.B. Hunt's employees who took to social media to post some of their private shots of this first delivery. "You know you work for a great company when they take part in some pretty awesome technology," said Instagram user blackfocal.
Of course, Musk shared the news on his Twitter account adding a few key details. The intrepid Tesla Semi made it across the country alone, without an escort or accompanying vehicles, on the current Tesla Supercharger network with a 1000 miles long extension cord.

More orders due
This is great news for Tesla who has also received a large order for its Semi trucks by package delivery titan United Parcel Service (UPS). Last December, UPS pre-ordered 25 of these super vehicles.

“For more than a century, UPS has led the industry in testing and implementing new technologies for more efficient fleet operations. We look forward to expanding further our commitment to fleet excellence with Tesla,” had said Juan Perez, UPS chief information and engineering officer, in the firm's announcement statement.
"These groundbreaking electric tractors are poised to usher in a new era in improved safety, reduced environmental impact, and reduced cost of ownership," he had added. Could a trip to the UPS headquarters be next in line for this traveling prototype?
Either way, wherever it heads next, it is just a matter of time before it is knocking at our doors, delivering our goods and packages. Safe travels Tesla Semi!
