Tesla's Cybertruck Pre-Orders Are so Strong That It Changed Its Production Timeline
Following strong pre-orders of the Cybertruck, Tesla has changed its production timeline for the high-performance versions.
The Cybertruck was unveiled last month and with it three different versions: the Single Motor RWD, the Dual Motor AWD, and the Tri Motor AWD.
Just under a week after the announcements, Tesla stated that more than 250,000 pre-orders were received for the Cybertruck. From this news, Tesla has updated its production timeline for the different models.

Pre-order timeline
When Elon Musk shared the Cybertruck with the world he stated that the least expensive two versions of the truck, which will start from $39,900 and $49,900, would arrive in late 2021.

The more expensive model starts from $69,900 and would be available from late 2022.
After receiving such high demand for the Dual Motor version ($49,900), with 42% of reservations going toward it, 41% are going to the Tri Motor Cybertruck ($69,900), and only 17% have chosen to opt for the Single Motor truck ($39,900), Tesla decided to change its production timeline.

So the Single Motor RWD will be "Fully refundable. You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in late 2021. Single Motor RWD production is expected to begin in late 2022," as per Tesla's pre-order page.
Its Dual Motor AWD will be "Fully refundable. You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in late 2021. Dual Motor AWD production is expected in late 2021."

And its Tri Motor AWD will be "Fully refundable. You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in late 2021. Tri Motor AWD production is expected in late 2021."
The two more popular options will be prioritized, and the Single Motor version will have to wait until a year later before production begins.
