Tesla's First Quarter Delivery Numbers Are Their Best Ever Yet
It's a good day for Tesla as the company reported a record-breaking quarter for the production and delivery of their vehicles.
The electric carmaker manufactured 102,672 and delivered a total of 88,400 vehicles in Q1, which ended on March 31st.
Tesla shared their positive information in an online announcement.
"Best ever first quarter performance"
Tesla proudly announced that this year's first quarter was its "best ever first quarter performance." Moreover, the company mentioned that its delivery numbers may still continue to rise, as it only considers a car delivered once its been transferred to the new owner after ensuring all paperwork is in order.
The breakdown of numbers was grouped by a couple of models at a time, not per model. Tesla produced 15,390 and delivered 12,200 Model S and X vehicles during that period. However, the majority of its numbers were for the Model 3 and Y vehicles, which combined saw 87,282 manufactured and 76,200 units delivered.
Another feat within a feat is that the Model Y only started production this January, with deliveries only beginning in March. An impressive turnaround.
The company seems to be doing better and better year on end. In 2019, Tesla grew its shipments by 50% as well as produced its one millionth car in March.
In its announcement, CEO Elon Musk and CFO Zachary Kirkhorn stated that the company could "comfortably exceed" selling 500,000 electric vehicles in 2020. That will remain to be proved as the COVID-19 outbreak continues to disrupt manufacturing around the world.
