Tesla’s Plaid Plus Is Indeed Just Too Good To be True

Before it even saw the light of day, the Tesla Model S Plaid Plus has been canceled. Elon Musk announced the news on Twitter on Sunday, June 6, stating that the automaker's Plaid model is "just so good" so there's "no need" for the Plaid Plus.
Say goodbye to the 520 miles (836.8 km) of promised range the Plaid Plus was meant to provide from 2022 onwards when it was due to be launched.
Tesla's Model S Plaid Plus had been advertised as being able to have that range on a single charge, and an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (0 - 96.5 km/h) in just 1.99 seconds. However, as Musk's Twitter post stated "Plaid+ is canceled. No need, as Plaid is just so good."
The EV that will be available, the Model S Plaid's high-end version will cost approximately $119,900, reports CNBC. Like the Plaid Plus, it will also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 - 96.5 km/h) in just 1.99 seconds, and have a top speed of 200 mph (321.8 km/h). The only difference with its Plaid Plus counterpart is its lower range of 390 miles (628 km).
Why cancel the longer-range model? Musk allegedly told Electrek that there's simply no need for a higher range of over 400 miles (643 km). No driver drives for such a long range without needing to stop for the restroom, to shake their legs, or to eat something. According to Musk, 390 miles (628 km) of range is quite enough.

So it seems Tesla will focus on its upcoming Model S Plaid. The vehicle has seen delays with its launch. In late May, Musk shared on Twitter the EV's delivery event date, which was set for June 3. That date has now been pushed back until later this week, on June 10, according to The Verge.
