This 3D Printed Keyword-Protected Door Lock is Awesome

Interesting Engineering

Remarkably, the 3D printed door lock features no electronics, but rather mechanical parts that act as bits.

The computation is integrated into a complicated 3D printed cell structure. The 'bit cells' can even be reset.

The handle and latch are also unique, in that they are made up of a single component. The handle and latch are connected by collapsible sections in the structure that translate the rotation of the handle into the predefined movement of the latch.
