Audi's 'Musk-Have' e-tron Sportback Spotted on Top of A Building

You might remember Audi put up a billboard recently claiming their e-tron Sportback was a ‘Musk-have’.  Well, the apparently incredible car has just been spotted going for a slow speed test drive on a rooftop in Hamburg, Germany. From first glance, the car looks pretty great with some commentators highlighting the car's similarity to the Faraday Futures FF 91 prototype.

The e-tron Sportback is scheduled to be released in 2019 and will be a competitor with the Tesla Model Y. But concerns hover around whether Audi can get it together and release on time. They have developed a bad reputation for announcing and canceling various electric models.

The R8 e-tron was set to go into production in 2012 but still hasn’t been seen on the roads. Die hard Audi fans who want to support the company’s EV plans have only the A3 e-tron PHEV to turn to, which is not a car setting any hearts on fire with its small 8.8 kWh battery. Big things are expected from Audi not only after throwing down the gauntlet to Musk but because they have the backing of VW, the world’s largest car manufacturer.

Let’s hope this sneaky footage is a good sign that Audi is serious about the EV market and that the e-trons are on their way.  Check the video and see if you think Musk is going to be feeling worried.
