Circular Runway Concept for Planes is a Terrible Idea, This Video Shows Why

This flight simulator explains why we don't and should never build circular runways.

On your way to your destination, you see the circular runway from above, and you are contemplating what you’ll do when you finally reach home. However, you won’t be able to go home, because the plane won't be able to land and you'll be dead soon.

Thankfully, this scenario won’t happen, because the current runways don’t look like that. Conceptualized by Henk Hesselink, the circular runway was designed to cut weather delays, increase capacity, and help travelers avoid queues.

It sounds too good to be true. And sadly, it is. The circular runway comes with a lot of unnecessary variables that can go wrong and doesn't solve the existing problems, to begin with.

This Youtube user used a flight simulator to see why the circular runway is doomed to fail. He tries to land a Boeing 737 to a nearby airport in different weather circumstances and speeds.

You might be thinking that you’ve found why it won’t work just by looking at the header, however, some of the reasons might surprise you. Watch the video to find out why.
