Watching These Coins on a Magnetic Antigravity Path Is So Satisfying

Interesting Engineering

Watch this interesting magnetic experiment that illustrates a phenomenon known as Eddy Currents.

The slow motion drop of the coins is caused by apposing eddy currents. The eddy currents are generated in the non-ferromagnetic metal coins by the neodymium magnets as they pass over.

The coins made from aluminum or copper react differently depending on the orientation of the magnets.
