Impossible Foods develops delicious tasty plant-based substitutes for meat products that could give the real thing a run for their money. The company hopes to give people both the taste and nutritional benefits of meat without the negative health side-effects and environmental impacts of livestock products.
As such, the company produces plant-based meat-free burgers, porks, and sausages that taste like the real thing. It does this through a very specific and impressive process. It researches animal products at the molecular level to identify plant proteins and nutrients that can recreate the experience of meat products.
The firm has a proprietary key ingredient called heme, that gives the meat its flavor. The company's flagship product is the Impossible Burger, which launched in July 2016. The company claims that making the meat substitute uses 95% less land and 74% less water compared to producing a burger patty from cows. It also emits 87% less greenhouse gases.
In January of 2019, Impossible Foods introduced an even better version of their Impossible Burger called the Impossible Burger 2.0. The firm claims it is even tastier and juicer and has 30% less sodium and 40% less saturated fat than the original recipe. Talk about an improvement!
