White holes are the forgotten twins of black holes. They're hypothetical cosmic areas that operate in the opposite direction of black holes. We all know that nothing can escape a black hole; however, with white holes, it's the complete opposite as nothing can enter one.

Unlike black holes, we don't know whether white holes exist. Astrophysicists have been playing with the concept since the 1970s, and some theorists have lately speculated that black holes and white holes could be two sides of the same coin. In this video from the YouTube channel The Action Lab, you can learn more about the physics of white holes and see how a white hole and a black hole can together generate a wormhole.
