COVID-19 may be devastating the world but engineers are not seating idly back and watching. They are joining forces bringing together their collective imaginations and innovative spirits to come up with everything from face masks to easy-to-produce ventilators in order to fight COVID-19 and help as many people as they can.
There's physician Dario Colasante that created a reusable 3D printed mask that is also comfortable and sanitary. Colasante made a mask that only touches the skin in order to get it certified very quickly. It is also resistant to chemical washing, alcohol and UV light. Colasante said that as a physician he felt it was his calling to help those in crisis.
Next, some Caltech students developed an interactive website where you can visualize worldwide COVID-19 data. The students used tools such as JavaScript, Mapbox, and Chart,js to convey both local and national trends in coronavirus cases.
These are but a few of the inspiring stories we have discovered since starting our journey of tracking and reporting engineering projects around the world that seek to help out during these trying times. This has resulted in an interactive page that demonstrates engineers’ noble efforts against COVID-19 across the world. Visit us to find out more or watch our video.
