"Glory Hole" Spillway in Lake Berryessa Overflows After 10 Years

Interesting Engineering

The spillway at Napa’s Monticello Dam is used to manage the water levels in Lake Berryessa. Over 48,000 cubic feet of water is directed to Putah Creek Every second.

Recent rains caused the water levels to rise giving way to a spillway. The spillway is used much like a drain in a bathtub, directing the overflow.

Watch the footage of this incredible sight caught by a drone flying overhead.
