How Long We May Have to Wear Masks

Will masks remain essential after the vaccines are here?

Masks! They are absolutely essential in our fight against COVID-19 but they aren't always the most comfortable or practical things to wear. In addition to making it so that we breathe in our own air, they also hide our expressions making it harder to communicate with others.

As vaccines are now stepping up to the task, it is perfectly normal to wonder: how long do we still have to wear masks? Both the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention agree that masks are essential.

In addition, during a speech this past December, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute  of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, stated that social distancing and mask-wearing will likely continue “several months into the second half and beyond of 2021.”

But what could that beyond mean? Months? Years? This is hard to say as no one is quite sure when the entire population will have been vaccinated. Making matters more complicated is also the fact that no one knows for sure if the current vaccines will prevent people from spreading the virus.

We explore all these facts and more in our video. So if you want to know how long it will be before we are finally mask-free watch it now.
