Mcdonald's Hires Engineers to Design A Brand-New Super Straw
Within the first ten seconds of this brilliant advertisement, we were pretty sure this new invention was a complete hoax.
Leave it to McDonald's to actually make this a real product. The STRAW (short for Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal) debuted shortly after the chocolate Shamrock Shake hit the market. The only problem with the new shake was blending two flavors. With a traditional straw, people would drink the bottom flavor first (because no monster would blend up the two flavors how dare they). McDonald's decided to make a straw so customers can savor both flavors simultaneously.
This new STRAW will only debut for two days (February 24 and March 1) and in extremely limited quantities. And McDonald's legitimately collaborated with aerospace engineers on the product.
Is the whole thing an elaborate marketing strategy? Definitely. Will it work? That remains to be seen.
