RC Antonov Plane Carries and Launches Soviet Space Shuttle
This incredible video featuring the work of a modeler named Hans Bühr is going to be the best thing you'll ever see this week: It features a 1:25-scale model of the Antonov An-225 Mriya.
This Soviet heavy cargo plane has six engines and the biggest wingspan of any plane in service today. However, perhaps the best thing about it is the fact that it can launch a flying rendition of the Buran, the USSR's Space Shuttle.
Back in an RC air show in 2018, this ability was put into action by Bühr in front of a crowd. Let's just say that their reaction to it was probably similar to what you'll experience today.
His expertly articulated design speaks of immense control, great piloting, and patience. With celestial music playing in the background, the video is home to many money shots. Now just imagine how it would be like if the Space Shuttle had continued its voyage up to the orbit...
