Robotic Kicker Takes on the World's Best Football Kicker
In the past few decades, robots have been becoming ever more ubiquitous, taking over human jobs. But there are still areas where humans are better than machines.
One YouTuber called Mark Rober decided to test who could kick better: the world's longest field goal robot or NFL longest field goal record holder Matt Prater. To do this he took his robot to Detroit and met Prater in person.
For the first half of the video Prater and Rober just have fun kicking the ball from further and further away and we must admit Rober is not bad at kicking despite not being a pro. However, it is in the second half of the video that things get really interesting.
The kicker robot is introduced and it is quite a sight to see. The robot is dressed up in full football gear and has two legs, one of which can perform 360-degree turns.
We must admit the video kept us in suspense as we waited patiently to see at which distance would the robot or Prater kick further. Rober and the NFL player even had a bet going on that whoever loses the kick would be ducked in ice. Want to find out who won the bet? Watch the video.
