Here's why SpaceX's rocket fuel packs major thrust in a small package
During its first two decades, SpaceX has significantly altered the spaceflight scene after starting out with huge goals of building reusable rockets, commercial spacecraft, and other advanced technology. And, after becoming a dominant force in the industry, the company is still expanding its vision today.
This video by the YouTube channel Real Engineering explores the reasons why SpaceX has developed and is using an entirely new fuel. SpaceX's mighty Starship spacecraft, for example, is powered by the Raptor engine, which is one of the first to be powered by methane. The fundamental advantage of using methane is that it has a higher performance than others, allowing the rocket to be smaller. Its lower cost also means that the overall cost of launching can be reduced.
Methane has many benefits; however, it does have its drawbacks, too. If you want to learn more about the issue, make sure you watch the video embedded above, and as always, enjoy.
