The Super-Explosive Insanity of Flushing Sodium Down a Toilet
On the list of things never to flush down the porcelain throne, sodium should be number one. Toilets take a lot of crap in science videos, but we've never seen anything as insane as this.
YouTuber Grant Thompson (aka "The King of Random") teamed up with fellow experimenter Cody of Cody's Lab to make a commenter's request happened. Cody even brought the same toilet from his infamous mercury flushing video.
The results were epic. Sodium, the 11th element on the periodic table, is an incredibly reactive metal. The guys tossed in a wooden block to create enough pressure to bounce the block back out of the toilet, nearly 20 feet into the air.
Don't try this at home, kids. You'd owe your parents a new bathroom.
