Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous vs 1,000 HP Toyota Supra Turbo in the Ultimate Drag Race
We’ve recently seen a bunch of videos of electric vehicles being put to the test on the track. All the big names love to show off just how much grunt green energy can create. But there is something brilliant about watching non-authorized drag race videos. More grunt, more fun. And this is a good one, the really professional team from DragTimes pitch the Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous against an old school Toyota Supra. The Supra has had some pretty sweet modifications including a single turbo. Watching the family car Tesla drag is oddly satisfying.
The team rigorously tests the two cars going through a bunch of scenarios, line starts, rolling starts as well as starts with the two-step and without the two-step for the Supra. Watch the whole video to see who becomes the king.
The Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode is third to only LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder in terms of accelerating power. The electric vehicle can do 0-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds. It is pretty ‘ludicrous’ to compare the Tesla S P100D to its LaFerrari and Porsche competitors though, as they are both small, two-seater cars which had limited production runs. The Tesla S is essential a family sedan with seats for 5 adults and 2 children.
The Toyota Supra has a long history associated with professional drag racing, mainly in Japan and the United States as well as in illegal drag racing. The car even got a minor role in the film "2 Fast 2 Furious".
