These YouTubers Built a See-Through Catalytic Converter to See It in Action
Cars are a unique collection of wonderful parts and bits that are mostly hidden from the human eye. That way we don't get to see how they all operate.
Until now, YouTubers Warped Perception were particularly curious about catalytic converters and decided to take two apart and make them into see-through models, one small one and one big one.
"Ever wonder what's happening inside your catalytic converter? I Make a See-Through Catalytic Converter to see what's happening inside the catalytic converter when it's functioning. you can clearly see that when it's not within its normal operating temperature it's not doing too much, I'm guessing this is why most cars put out the majority of their pollution during the first 5 minutes of startup," said Warped Perception in the video description.
But what Warped Perception failed to say is that once a bit of exhaust passes through, the material, the inside begins to glow a bright orange. In the bigger catalytic converter, the acrylic seals eventually break, causing the exhaust gas to ignite.
This all makes for a beautifully colored light show. We won't tell you what happens to the smaller catalytic converter. You have to watch the video for that. We will tell you it is fun and exciting though.
