This Hotel Lets Its Guests Sleep in a Room Entirely Underwater
If heading off to a tropical paradise isn’t adventurous or luxurious enough, a new accommodation experience will certainly provide something unexpected. The Underwater Room at the Manta Resort on Pemba Island off the coast of East Africa lets you sleep literally underwater. More than a room, the accommodation capsule is a three-layered floating building. One whole floor of the building sits entirely underwater. The underwater room gives you a 360-degree view of the ocean around you. You arrive at the unique accommodation via the sea-level landing deck which is also equipped with a lounge area and bathroom facility. Climb up the ladder to the sun deck for lounging around and star gazing, then follow the ladder down from the landing deck to your underwater bedroom.
Underwater lighting will ensure you are treated to a spectacular night show as nocturnal sea creatures come out to feed. The hotel describes the room and the animal's relationship saying: “Coral has established itself on the anchoring lines and around the underwater structure. Octopus and even Spanish dancers have been seen attaching themselves to the glass panes. The reef inhabitants can simply not resist attraction, which makes for exciting watching and a truly unique experience!” The room lies approximately 250m from the shore of the island. The hotel assures you once dropped off and given an introduction to your accommodation, they will leave you alone until your pre-arranged meal times. You can book the ultimate underwater sleeping experience via the hotel's website for $1500 USD per night.
