This Video Illustrates How to Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer
Masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer. These are the three items flying off supermarket shelves right now. This makes it difficult to get your hands on them.
For those unable to find hand sanitizer, YouTuber Because Science has a solution: make your own. He even provides a fun illustrated video to show you how to do it.
The instructions are simple. First, start with alcohol. The higher the concentration of ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, the better. Pour 2/3 of this alcohol in a sterile container.
Then pour 1/3 cup of aloe vera gel inside the container. Make sure not to pour too much or too little. Too much will make the sanitizer less effective, while too little will dry out your skin.
If you are feeling experimental, you can also add some drops of essential oils to give the sanitizer a more pleasant scent. Now, stir all the ingredients with a sterile whisk.
Funnel the mixture into a sterile bottle, and you have got yourself a good hand sanitizer ready to go. Who would have thought that something so essential could be so simple to make?
