Are thorium reactors the future of nuclear power?

We may hear a lot more about thorium in the future.
Derya Ozdemir

Have you ever heard of thorium reactors? Some believe they can help us develop a more affordable and safer future for nuclear power. They could, in fact, represent the future of green energy.

Let's be real — many people are afraid of nuclear power. However, it's also considered to be one of our better options for a reliable, carbon-free future by many experts. Molten salt reactors (MSRs) that employ thorium as a fuel, in addition to small modular reactors, are regarded as cheaper, cleaner, and safer alternatives to typical reactors fueled with highly radioactive elements and can benefit nuclear energy expansion.

There are thorium-reactor experimental tests slated in China, and companies in the United States are developing projects that should be operational in the next few decades. In this video by the YouTube channel Undecided with Matt Ferrell, you can explore the realm of thorium energy and learn more about the future of energy.
