U.S. Navy Super Hornet Jet Develops Vapor Cone

Trevor English

The F/A-18E Super Hornet is one of the most advanced fighter/attack airplanes in existence to date. The U.S. Navy boasts the aircraft at the forefront of their fleet, and it first saw action at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2002. However you feel about the warfighter's use, it is awe-inspiring to see the plane make a low fly by pass at an air show.

The plane in this video was just barely under the sound barrier, but was still going fast enough to develop a stunning vapor cone. A vapor cone is a conical cloud of condensed air formed around a fast moving object, typically in humid environments. Check it out!
