Watching Reinforced Steel Snap in Slow-Mo is Pretty Tense
The Slow Mo Guys Gav and Dan decided to snap a 1.5-inch thick steel rebar in half. They decided to pull apart the rebar, gradually increasing the machine's kips (1,000 pounds of force) until it snaps in half. It's that gradual bit that really starts stressing the guys out, and watching them jump at every small crackle makes the video even more enjoyable. This video also shows exactly how strong steel rebar is, because it doesn't snap until an incredibly high number. We don't want to spoil the exact number for you because it's worth the watch.
