The year 2018 was not a very good one for ZTE Corporation, a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise, and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet.

The Phoenix never dies
Just like the mythological creature that rises again from its ashes, ZTE is the kind of company that consistently rises out of whatever ashes, and has a fresh new life to live. That's what the Chinese company is made of.
The fiscal year 2018 was by far the worst period for the operations of the Chinese giant electronics manufacturer after the United States government pushed ZTE to the verge of bankruptcy.
The U.S. Department of Commerce came very close to putting ZTE out of business for good; as a consequence, the company's revenues dropped by nearly 21,5 percent annually losing a fifth of its business in a single year.
Despite all the bad experiences and the fact that the fate of the company's American arm remains highly uncertain, ZTE is now ready to return to financial stability, as it was confirmed by the Shenzen-based firm. The Phoenix never dies. It only gets stronger with every new rise.
As part of its comeback, ZTE announced a comprehensive strategic agreement with Sany Group, China's leading machinery equipment maker, promoting the integration of 5G and industry, and accelerating the digital transformation of intelligent manufacturing.

"5G and ZTE's Research and Development strength will promote the further development of Sany's intelligent manufacturing system. The cooperation between ZTE and Sany will also accelerate the transformation and upgrade of China's manufacturing industry," he said.
According to the signed agreement, ZTE and Sany will explore the applications of 5G technologies in Sany's industrial parks in Beijing and Changsha, central China's Hunan Province, by building 5G pilot networks. In addition, the companies will be conducting 5G service demonstrations, so as to jointly explore the service scenarios based on 5G, thereby building up a 5G application model.
"With mature 5G end-to-end solutions, ZTE focuses on the 5G main channel and has had 30 5G cooperation projects worldwide," said Li Zixue, Chairman of ZTE Corporation.
"ZTE will deepen the cooperation with Sany in 5G vertical applications, facilitating the upgrade of intelligent manufacturing and accelerating the digital transformation in all aspects," said Zixue.
With a focus on upgrading the intelligent manufacturing industry, ZTE and Sany are set to integrate solutions and application of 5G, Edge Computing, and Artificial Intelligence in the fields of Industrial Internet, Internet of Vehicles (IoV), and enterprise digitalization.
Unstoppable, ZTE simultaneously announced that it has partnered with China Telecom to empower PlantMate, an elaborate one-stop industrial service platform built by Zhejiang SUPCON, with 5G network.
The 5G remote guidance system PlantMate service platform, which enables specialists to respond to troubleshooting requests promptly and remotely improving maintenance efficiency, is based on China Telecom Tianyi cloud platform and 5G network and was jointly developed by ZTE, Zhejiang Branch of China Telecom, and Zhejiang SUPCON.
Thanks to high bandwidth and low latency of 5G network as well as the 5S nearest service mode, a specialist can rely on the PlantMate service platform to provide on-site personnel with remote guidance.
Augmented Reality for on-site maintenance
Equipped with Augmented Reality technology glasses with high-definition cameras, the PlantMate service platform allows on-site maintenance personnel to send high-definition images back to specialists through a 5G network. This allows specialists and on-site personnel to communicate via voice and video as well as sharing a whiteboard with each other.
The PlantMate service system can also access the maintenance specialist team at Hangzhou Headquarters of Zhejiang SUPCON in order to obtain remote consultation and technical guidance.
By leveraging ZTE's end-to-end 5G capabilities, the PlantMate service system is able to provide customized solutions that facilitate the troubleshooting and maintenance in the industrial scenario.
In turn, this greatly improves enterprise costs, improves work efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction. In addition, it builds up a mature 5G industrial Internet.
